Why the Sea Holds Our Stories

For years, I’ve worked alongside individuals and families at the end of life — listening, supporting, witnessing both the heartbreak and the grace that come with saying goodbye. In those sacred moments, one thing always stands out: the deep need to create something meaningful, something that lasts beyond words, beyond the funeral, beyond the grave.

But when the flowers fade and the headstone is set, so many families still feel a void.

At the same time, we’re seeing a transformation in how we say goodbye.

Over 60% of Americans now choose cremation, a number that’s expected to keep rising. But cremation isn’t the final answer — it raises a new question:

What now?

We created EternaSea to offer a different kind of memorial — one that speaks to the soul, but also to the sea.

Our modular reef structures are hand-crafted using eco-friendly materials, infused with cremated remains, and placed in ocean waters where they become living legacies — habitats for marine life, places of peace, and coordinates families can return to, time and again.

This isn’t just about grief. It’s about connection — to nature, to purpose, to healing.

It’s also about doing better by the planet. Our oceans are facing unprecedented stress. Coral reefs are dying. Coastal resilience is thinning. Through EternaSea, we hope to create tiny but meaningful contributions to healthier waters — and maybe even spark new conversations about how we honor life while protecting what gives us life.

We’re still small. This is just the beginning. But the idea is big:

That a legacy doesn’t have to be carved in stone. It can live, breathe, and grow beneath the waves.

If you’ve ever wondered what comes after cremation — or how we can turn sorrow into stewardship — I hope you’ll follow our journey.

And if you’re walking through loss, know this: there are beautiful ways to remember, and even more beautiful reasons to begin again.

With love and purpose,
Daymon Warren
